Censorship And The Media

I don't think anything should be censored, as long as it has a disclaimer at the beginning of the program.
Maybe in a later time frame.
If parents don't want their children watching it, they should make sure to have restrictions, and monitor their kids so they don't watch it.

Answers Questions:

- My parents are very aware of my online activity. My computer is right off of the living room so they can monitor how long I have been on.
- My parents don't really seem to care about my computer usage, or how long I am on for, as long as my brother and I take turns.
- The only two websites I really ever go on, are Facebook and Youtube, and my parents know about those, so there's not much more for them to know.
- I don't think I would interact with my friends with much due to no Facebook, I wouldn't be up-to-date with the latest music due to no Youtube, and I would probably have failed every project I have ever had to do without Google.
- With all sorts of information about every category possible online, (for the convenience of students' projects and/or homework), I think studying and completion of homework would be very difficult.
- I for sure think it would benefit considering, I am on a computer completing my blogs for media right now(:
- I think that everyone will have the most up-to-date technology with the best, easiest learning techniques.
- I just started reading a book not too long ago, only because it was the last of the series that I didn't complete in grade. 8.
- I don't nessacarily think copying and pasting is cheating, as long as you and everyone you plan on sharing with is learning something from it.

** I DECIDED TO WRITE A LITTE BIT ABOUT EACH ONE **

One Media Product That Can Lead To Violence

A media product that I would think would lead to violence would be movies and/or video games that demonstrate violence.
I think this because, when people play or watch these things for long periods of time, it begins to be all they think about.
The thought of performing the acts shown in these games in movies fascinates the viewer and encourages them to do so.

One Media Product That Went Over The Line

I think that most sexually revealing music videos are crossing the line, especially to younger viewers.
A lot of songs lyrically are equally as bad. Not just sexuall songs but songs like Ice T having the desire to kill a cop or in his words a 'pig'. Or even a song with a good vibe but an innapropriate music video like 'California Gurls'.

Where Does Violence Come From?

Violence can come from many things.
It can come from all of your anger that has been building up and eventually is all unleashed. You can be influenced to start violence by a peer or a televison show. One things for sure, violence is like media it's everywhere you go.

Chilean Minors - Lessons of This Story?

I think the main lesson of this story is that your never really safe, even when you think you are.
Also, anything can happen to you at any given time, and you have to ask yourself- are you prepared for that?

So Bowling for Columbine

I will definately remember the incuident of  the Columbine school shooting.
I just think that it was a very random, uncalled for misfortune that occured and it has an interesting story to it.
There is something very mysterious about two teenages deciding to go to school with dangerous weapons and claim civialians lives. I find it disgusting, but there's a story behind it, that's interesting.

Does Siri Sound Like a Good Idea? Explain.

I think that people should get this new version of the iPhone because, it has a variety of new things.
It has a new colour, which divides the black and white phones instead of everyone having the exact same style. I also think that Siri is a fresh new idea for everyone, especially those who are unorganized.

With the Death of Steve Jobs...

I own the most recent version of the iPod touch - with a camera installed in it and an older iPod nano.
I would like to own an iPad so I could hook it up to my TV and watch movies as well as an iMac.
I think that the company makes wonderful products but they can be a little pricey.

Your Spoof Commercial

For my spoof commercial I am working with Mandy and Mekia.
We are doing a spoof of Proactiv.
We think our ad will be affective because, we have a great plan to be set in motion and we are highlighting a very strong opinion of some people that use Proactive- it doesn't work.

Are TV Shows Making Girls Mean

I think that depending on the girls watching the program, that the particualr TV show could be making girls mean.
For example; if a girl was watching Jersey Shore and 2 of the girls on the show got into an arguement or a physical fight the girl watching may want to act like Snooki.
However, I'm not saying it's making them entirely mean, at the end of the day girls act the way they choose to and that's that.

"Seahaven is the way the world is supposed to be".....

I highly disagree with this statement.
I feel that everyone should live their life the way they want to and shouldn't have curve balls thrown at them.
Sure, it would be a safer plcae, but that's a part of life- living on the edge a little bit.

Jumping the Shark

My favourite example of someone who has jumped the shark is Britney Spears.
I found this interesting because, it was SO unexpected and not only did it make Britnay's fan base look at her in a different light, but the whole media universe.
How she shaved her head, and then went completely ballistic from there on out.
Even though she has made 2 or 3 comebacks I don't think anyone will look at the pop icon the same ever again.

Our Constructed World

1. I eat fast food approximately 6 times a month.
2. I visit the mall about once every 1 or 2 months.
3. I watch T.V about 30 hours a week.
4. I play video games about 2 hours a week.
5. I surf online for 21 hours a week.
6. I currently do not have a cell phone, but when I did, about 300-350 texts were sent daily.
7. Enviormental issues that are important to me are endangoured species, because, there is nothing they can do about it, it just sort of happens, and they don't have an option and then they become extinct.
8. To be absolutely blunt, never.
9. I would say everything I buy, watch or listen to is constructed by media.

Facebook Alternative

The name of Mandy and I's website idea is 'SocialAction'. The reason why we picked this name is because we wanted to incorparate, being social and interacting which are relative things, but combining them, gave us a good catchy name, along with our slogan; 'Be the Social Butterfly'.
We had the idea to grab key elements of some websites and combine them into one site. It has things like chat and messaging like facebook, video chatting like skype, music and uploading videos like youtube, and a few new ideas, like sending questions and comments, and designing your own profile.
I think it will be successful because instead of having a million different accounts, you can just have one with everthing on it.

Charlie Sheen, the Guy, Not the Guy on T.V

My opinion on Charlie Sheen is he is very arrogant, full of his own beliefs and quite frankly stupid.
Just based on the short interview we watched yesterday in class captured his personality in a glance.
He says that he has tiger blood, sorry Charlie but your not superman for being capable to not overdose, your actually and idiot, for doing that to your body. Theres a certain point in your life where you learn to grow up, and Charlie has not reached that stage yet, you would think that would be when you have children, or even having the title of being the highest paid actor on T.V. If Charlie is still acting like this at 46 years old, then theres a very slim chance he will ever learn what it's like to be a mature adult.

Monday's 'Two and a half Men' Review

I think the reason why Monday's episode was such a success, is out of curiosity.
I think the dedicated audience of  'Two and a half Men' was left with so many questions.
Let's go back to the season 8 finale. It ends with Charlie wanting to be with Rose. So, right there alone has everyone eager to tune in. Then, everyone gets hit with a whammy when we find out that Charlie Sheen (the lead role) is now fired for insulting the executive producer. Some of the audience may have decided to not be dedicated to the show any longer. We also get left with yet another question of, will the shows return be canceled? It is then brought to our attention that Ashton Kutcher will be replacing Charlie in the series. This may or may not have re-cruited some of the audience that decided to not continue viewing. With Ashton in the picture we are left with so many new questions; How will he be introduced?, Will he do the role justice?, Why Ashton?, How will Charlie be written out?
With this being said I think the main reason for so many viewers, is for questions to be answered.
I guess we weill find out the real answer next monday!

The Social Network

I'm a little shocked about the rating of 96% on rotton tomatoes actually.
I mean, it was a good movie, but rotton tomatoes is a really blunt website that a lot of movies don't get the approval of. I am a frequent user of rotton tomatoes and I think they under rate a lot of movies, but this is one I think they over rated.
I just felt that some of the movie was boring, and confusing at some points when it would show mark and his friend talking and then to something completely different and continued doing that.
I also felt like Mark's character was far too monotone. I know it's a true story but they could have spiced it up a litte.
My personal mark of this movie would have to be a 62%. Just seeing they way facebook got created fasinated me.

All Media Exists To Make Money

I think the statement 'All Media Exists To Make Money' is true.
If there was no benefit for Media why WOULD it exist?
I think we get a benefit from, music, TV, movies (etc.), however Media plays a trick on you.
In some situations, (like going out for dinner) your happy that you are getting good food, but if you really think about it, the billboard you saw of McDonalds, lured you to where you are and that's what media wants.
If your watching a television show, you see a commercial of an iPod, you buy an iPod, you think you got what you want, but so did media.
Let's say you get a new song from iTunes, your so happy, you got the newest song but really the 3 dollars you just paid for that song goes to media's back pocket.

Facebook Is

Facebook is one of the worlds greatest inventions.
It is a great way to interact with anyone around the world, but mostly family and friends.
Overall, Facebook is successful.

Media Is

Media is everywhere you go.
It's always trying to sell you something, or get a benefit.
Sometimes in benefits us, but in the longrun media is only looking out for itself.
